Fruits not branches

This morning, I have been reflecting on a contemporary story to introduce the booster. Then I remember a tale I once heard. A mother and her daughter went to the farm to harvest some tomatoes and pepper for dinner (subsistence farming is practised in Ghana where I come from). Upon reaching to the farm, the mother started plucking the vegetables and the daughter wanted to help. She reached out to a tree with no fruit and cried out to the mother, “I cannot find any tomatoes”. The mother picked a tomato from her basket and showed her, then told her “look for fruits and not the branches”.

Every fruit is a product of a seed, with other environmental conditions, as science would make us understand. As the seed germinates, its roots grows deeper to accomodate the stem and the branches. For some fruits that are buried in the soil, the branches serve as immediate host for the fruits. The branches are not the fruits therefore, but grows first to accommodate the fruits which will later come forth.

You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them

Matthew 7:16-20 (NKJV)

What is fruitfulness then? I will define fruitfulness as the manifesting the “seed” that was deposited. To be fruitful then means that you live to the fullest potential and fulfil your purpose on Earth. It then involves all the processes that are needful to bear the fruits that the seed was deposited for. For a fruit is only a manifestation of the type of seed that was buried in the soil.

Note this:

Seeds are buried, fruits are the manifestation of the hidden. No one knows what you carry unless you manifest what has been buried within you.

Necessity has been placed on us to bear fruits. That is the only way the seed that was deposited in us was made manifested. It’s our season to bear fruits and not be just branches.

Thank you Father for your word I have heard today. I thank you for the deposit in me and your continuous power that is at work within me. I pray that you will grant me the grace to bear lasting fruits, all to your glory. AMEN!!
