Prerequisite for abundance (Part 9)

In one point in our lives, we like to chart our own courses. This was the story of a young man who was due for promotion at his workplace. He had been service as an assistant to the plant manager for well over eight years. He really understood the systems of the company, and was very good at running the plant in the absence of the boss. Although due for a promotion, the plant manager did not want to put in the recommendation for his promotion. He would rather the company hires someone else to be the plant manager of their new branch than sent this young man to the next branch and he will miss his assistant. To the boss, assisting him as the assistance was much better than leaving for another place and possibly do better than He is doing now.

9. Set the full ones away

… Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.

2 Kings 4:4

The prophet Elisha asked her to set aside the full jars of oil. This meant that there should be a clear separation between the matured and the empty ones that still needs filling. There are different capacities for these different positions of jars. Understand that the jars came into the room as empty. But over the period, some of them became full whilst others were still empty. The full ones need are those that have reached to the point where there can be set up for greater responsibilities.

This brings about the concept of division of labor and delegation. As a leader, you stand in the position of influence and managing the resources you have. At every point in your leadership, you must clearly entrust those who are matured with some of the responsibilities that you carry. You may have started the leadership journey with them as empty jars, but then as you build them up through teachings and other leadership trainings, they become full. As a parent, when you spend time to nurture your children and train them in the way they should go, they will become full. When they are matured, try to set them aside and utilize them as full jars and not the empty vessels you knew.

To see the abundance you expect to have, then you must learn to allow those you have trained to take up various responsibilities. It may be difficult at the instant, but you need to still set it aside. God richly bless you and remain a blessing.

I thank you Father for Your word that I have heard today. I give you all the glory for it is you alone that I worship. I pray that you will grant me the grace to set aside all the full jars in my life and increase my abundance. Thank you Father in the name of Christ our Lord AMEN!
